When the 2025 Asia Road Racing Championship roared back to life at Buriram, Thailand for Round 1, I knew I had to be there—a camera ion each shoulder, my arsenal of lenses, of course my trusty chestvest, boots on the paddock, and senses tuned to the scent of race fuel and monsoon mist. As always, the Chang International Circuit did not disappoint, delivering drama, adrenaline, and a soggy pit lane or two.

There’s something gloriously chaotic about a race weekend—early mornings, the scent of hot tarmac, and the unmistakable hum of 150cc four-stroke engines being flogged like they owe someone money. Covering Round 1 of the 2025 Malaysian Cub Prix at Sepang Circuit was everything I love about motorcycle culture in Malaysia: loud, gritty, and absolutely full of heart. As a motorsport photographer and moto obsessive, it felt like the perfect way to kick off the racing year. Armed with my cameras, a few memory cards, and some questionable kopi, I dove into the madness.

But nothing could have prepared me for my first assignment covering the Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand.

As a motorcycle photographer based in Malaysia, I’ve seen my fair share of thrilling races, unpredictable weather, and grassroots motorsport glory. But nothing quite prepared me for the sheer spectacle that was the final round of the 2024 Malaysian Cub Prix series. It’s Malaysian grassroots racing at its absolute finest, where family teams and determined riders showcase what they’re made of.

Ah, the MSF Moto Championship finale at Sepang International Circuit—a high-octane event where grassroots racers mix it up with some pretty serious pro racers and chase their dreams. So early one Saturday morning, bleary eyed and with a serious lack of caffeine, I jumped onto my Versys 650 and made the 45 minute journey from my house to Sepang International Circuit.

The Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix at Sepang International Circuit is a spectacle of roaring engines, screaming fans, and sun-drenched grandstands. For any motorsport enthusiast, it’s a bucket-list event, and for a photographer—especially one who doesn’t have a coveted photo pass—it’s a mix of sheer excitement, creative problem-solving, and the occasional existential crisis.

I believe that every photographer tries to reinvent themselves within their craft at some point, and sometimes it requires a different lens, or perspective, to start seeing the world around them in a new and fresh way. This was a decision and a route that I took recently.

So happy to be able to head over to the Bike Shed London show at Tobacco Dock when I was in London. I always enjoy heading over to Wapping in East London as well. Only had a couple of hours to spare this time round though as I had to head out to Maidenhead later. Arrived quite early and it was already packed! I came to the last show in 2019, COVID stopped the 2020 and 2021 show’s. Loads more bike’s this time round.

Let it be known right here…The 2022 KTM 1290 Super Adventure S maybe the most complete motorcycle I have ever had the pleasure of riding. It is full of KTM character and an absolute beast on the road. When KTM Premium Kuala Lumpur and KTM Malaysia asked if I would like to take the 1290 while we were waiting for parts for my 990 to come in, I jumped at the chance. Of course! Mad not to!

My Mum always told me that the best things always come in small packages. Well, in the case of the KTM390 Adventure that old adage may ring true. Austrian manufacturer KTM needs no introduction. They are well known for their success in the Dakar rally, and for their growling large capacity, heavy weight, v-twin adventure bikes.
