Malaysian Cub Prix 2025 Round 2 - Tangkak
Take Me To Your Tangkak!
Tangkak? What is a Tangkak? Who is a Tangkak? Tangkak, as my Malaysian friends explained to me, is a place. A small town in the southern Malaysian state of Johor where round 2 of the 2025 Malaysian Cub Prix season will take place. Alright then Malaysia, take me to your Tangkak!
Riding down to Tangkak in Johor state from Kuala Lumpur for Round 2 of the 2025 Malaysian Cub Prix Series is a straight forward journey. I took the main North-South highway and based myself in the small riverside town of Muar, about 25km from the circuit at Tangkak. Heading out early the next morning the ride to Tangkak was pretty nice! The picturesque roads winding through lush landscapes and climaxing with lush rice fields as I approached the circuit. This set the stage for a thrilling weekend ahead, where the roar of engines and the camaraderie among riders create an electric atmosphere. This event, an integral part of Malaysia's motorsport calendar, promises unforgettable moments, as competitors from various backgrounds converge to showcase their skills and passion for racing. With every twist and turn on the road to Tangkak, anticipation builds for the adrenaline-fuelled excitement that awaits at the circuit.
Finding the best spots at Tangkak Circuit can enhance your motorcycle photography. It was my first time here so I needed to enlist the help of some of the veteran MCP shooters that I know well. The track, also a pro level go kart track, is known for its winding undulations, tricky corners, and fast straights. It offers many places and good vantage points to showcase the racing and the stunning environment. Capture riders leaning into curves or racing on straightaways that highlight their performance. Set up on the hillside for wide views or get close in the turns for dynamic action shots. As the light shifts during the day, these spots become vibrant, helping you capture the thrill of motorcycle racing. Whether you're an expert or a fan, Tangkak Circuit offers a great backdrop for your photography.
The Malaysian monsoon rain that struck on race day last Sunday was nothing short of extraordinary, causing chaos and delays for the CP125 and CP150 categories. Despite the vibrant atmosphere and eager spectators, the downpour forced a delay of almost an hour, as teams scrambled to ensure the safety and preparedness of their motorcycles. The track transformed into a treacherous expanse, with standing water creating challenging conditions for both riders and organisers. As the rain battered the tarmac, it became a test of patience, resilience, and adaptability for everyone involved in the thrilling world of motorcycle racing.
Despite the severely wet conditions, the riders demonstrated unwavering determination, pushing their limits and refusing to slow down. The rain poured relentlessly, turning the track into a slippery challenge, yet each competitor embraced the elements with fierce tenacity. Skill and precision were paramount as they expertly navigated the treacherous corners, water spraying from their tyres in dramatic arcs. The atmosphere was charged with adrenaline, showcasing the riders' commitment to their craft and their unyielding spirit even in the face of adversity. It was a testament to their passion for motorcycle racing and their ability to thrive in conditions that would daunt lesser competitors.
